Best fans for the Define r4

Saaq

I hope this is the right part of the forum to ask this question. I have never been any good on the cooling part of the computer. So i just wanted to ask what fans in your opinion would be best to have in the Define r4 for omptimal air flow and cooling. Im planing to go with a noctua nh-d15 for the cpu and the rest i dont know. I dont know what a pressure fan is or anything like that.

The stock fans are alright but you can get much better fans.

I have Noctua NF-A14s as my 2 front intakes and my exhaust. They are pretty pricy but they are very nice or you can get Silverstone Ap122 which are also very nice fans and they are very cheap.

I just got a Define R4 for a new Devil's Canyon build and spent a good deal of time researching how best to cool it. I was looking at Noctua fans as well but ultimately decided it would be too expensive for my needs. Plenty of people use the 2 stock non-pwm fans on the Define R4 and are happy with the cooling and quietness. So, even though I wanted to add some fans, I felt I didn't need to necessarily buy the most expensive (yet clearly 'top notch') solution possible. Here are some articles I found helpful during my research:

They use an R3 in this link but it's definitely still relevant: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/201...nvestigation/1.

You'll see a guy named doyll in the OC.net threads and he seemed to really know what he's talking about, so I followed a fair amount of his advice. I'm going with 4 fans in total: 2 front intakes, a bottom intake, and a back exhaust, with all the other vents closed to try to ensure it's as quiet as possible. These are the fans I purchased: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E9NZX7E/. They are 140mm PWM fans on sale right now for $12.99, which is about half price of the Noctuas. While Phanteks isn't Noctua, they are still a very well regarded company and the color of the fans actually match the case better than the Noctuas do. I will be using this, http://www.swiftech.com/8-WayPWMsplitter-sata.aspx, so I can connect all the fans to the motherboard and use the bios to control them all. It's a pretty sleek setup that I'm excited to play with once I get my 4790k.

If you do go in this direction with the Phanteks, one thing to note is that in order to use them as front intakes, you have to remove the adhesive pads as the the case frame won't fit back in the case with the pads on. It's not a big deal to remove them, but It took me a little bit to realize that was the problem so I figured I'd share. Hope this helps!

Edited to add a link to a review of the Phantek fan: http://www.hitechlegion.com/reviews/cooling/heatsinks/37419-phanteks-f140.
