Hey all,

We here at school have recently acquired a mineral oil PC that's sitting on display. We just installed Linux Mint 17 on it dual booting with windows. We are trying to find some things to do (programs to run, themes, etc.) to make it look cool sitting on display. Any of the Linux gurus have an idea? There's no graphics card, and it's a bit older (x58 IIRC) so it can't run benchmarks or anything.

EDIT: It's just for aesthetics. It draws peoples attention when they come in to the computer labs. Something flashy that will pull people over we can be running on it.

My Rig: MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming, Intel Core i5-3570k, Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7870x2, Asus Xonar DX, OCZ Fatal1ty 1000w, Samsung 840 Pro 128GB Boot drive, 2x Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD in Raid 1 w/ OCZ Vertex 3 60GB Cache

install cmatrix. Open a terminal fullscreen and run the command cmatrix, then watch the magic. Some of the optional flags make it look cooler too (and you can change the color if you want, but I like green).

You could always make the desktop look more appealing by playing Big Buck Bunny in VLC in a repeat loop, and have the terminal open in the background running a few bash scripts in a loop (simple ones). You could also have maybe your schools home page loaded up in a browser in the background as well. That would be enough I think to draw interest to the machine.
