Not sure if this is the right place, but I have a question about Rendering in Premier.

Where does Premier render FROM?

I understand that Premier will render to the HDD that you chose.  In my case I have the Program files on an SSD (lets call it D1, for Drive 1), I have the Media cache, preview files and the scratch disk on a Velociraptor (D2), the save files (for reliability) are on a WD black (D3) and a 4tb red has the footage (D4).  Out of the 4 drives, I'd like to RENDER TO D3 and then when it fills up move those to D4, but if Premier is using the save file to render from then I'm reading and writing to the same disk, slowing it down.

Let me know if my hunch is right, and also if my complicated organisation of locations (For speed and reliabilty purposes) is actually hampering me, then if you feel it could be better please explain how.

It should not be a noticeable performance decrease. Usually the program will load as much as possible into ram. Unless your file is larger than your ram capacity it wil not have to read anything from the HDD.

Cheers, I have 8GB of ram and the biggest file I've worked with was 4gb.
