I'm building a new rig this summer with an AMD FX 9370 CPU.  I have most of the parts selected, but need some suggestions for the motherboard.  I'm not sure which to choose for best price:performance, as there are so little to choose from.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the love of everything don't get a Fx9xxx Series CPU. They are just stupid.

^This^

If you need it, get a maybe a sabertooth or a gigabyte UD one.

^^^^ Exactly this.

Buy an i5 4690k with a decent z97 board and you'll be much better off.

If you MUST get an FX series (9XXX) i can only recommend the one i am currently using, the asus crosshair v formula z. It is on par with most high end Z87 boards and on par with most mid range z97 boards in terms of connectivity and features (exculding m.2 and satae ofc).

or just an FX-8320 and overclock it it's the same exact chip, only AMD factory overclocked it for you, but if you are getting an FX 8 core CPU and a 990FX motherboard you are probably end up overclocking it anyway...save yourself money and get the 8320 and a GOOD Cpu cooler...notcua dual tower heatsink or dual 120mm AIO water cooler is what i would recommand...be advised that if this is for gaming a core i5 will indeed give you similar or better results but if it is for multi-tasking (rendering, encoding, modeling, editing...) the FX 8 core is a better choice..purely gaming i would recommand the i5-4670K or 4690K...for multi-tasking AND gaming if budget is not an issue go with a core i7-4770K or 4790K (make sure to get a z87 or z97 motherboard for overclocking.)

For the love of god don't get anything more than an 8350 if you go red. Go blue and get a 4670K and a nice Z87 board, better performance most of the tie, they usually run cooler, and it's worth the price premium.

Alright thanks. I was mostly going with an AMD CPU because I hate Intel's socket design and I don't exactly have a ton of cash, but I might just take your suggestion.

but the 9xxx are bin chips, they will clock higher then a 8xxx on average.

yes but what is the difference between 5ghz and 4.6ghz at this point? it's still a slow core CPU and overclocking the crap out of it will only improve performance by a marginal amount especially in games...i know what i'm talking about i have an FX-8320 + motherboard on sale on kijiji right now...it did clocked as high as 4.93ghz and even then the performance in games where still not that great and honestly 4.6ghz was my daily speed on this, for a 120$ cpu the overclocked FX-8320 is a good gaming chip and is worth it yes, but the price they ask for 9xxx is RIDICULOUS...even at 7.0ghz those 8 core wouldnt game as well as an haswell i5 or i7 anyway.
