PCI Express Extender Cable

Hello all....I have a small form factor pc that I am running and can only use a low profile graphics card. My question is has anyone used a pci express 16x to pci express 16x cable extender like the one listed in the link below. If so please tell me is it even worth trying to run it as my primary gpu slot.

Are you gaming with the GPU? Or mining?

If gaming, this extender won't work as it is coming from a pci-e 1x slot.

You need a 16x - 16x extender.

you can exte,d 4x to 8x and 8x to 16x, it will still have the same electric spec, but will be able to hose larger cards

No, you can't, why do you think we have 16x slots. Why not just run a GPU with a 1x slot.

i didn't say 1x/16x, i said extending the 16x slot to use a graphics card externally is possible

It should work fine but a 16x>16x is better than a 1x>16x

did it to a friend once where he had the exact same situation as you, a small form factor but he didn't dig Blower fan cooled GPUs, so we got his an EVGA GTX 760 ACX and modded the case to screw it on to the outside

Wow....you just gave me an idea, I think I will do the same thing. So did you have to use a second psu to power the graphics card? I know if that is the case I will have to use a paper clip trick for the second psu?

Make sure the extender cable is labeled as "POWERED" or else it will fry the PCI-E lane

mobo side. the mobo will try to feed power to the PCIE lane and there wont be any power and burn out the lane.

Ok...let me get this straight, the side of the cable that says "powered" goes into the pci express on the mobo and not the graphics card? ?
