In anticipation of Star Citizen I'm putting together a new build and seriously considering a CaseLabs case, likely the Magnum SMA8. The downside is they dont include dust filters.

Demcifilters offers a few solutions for CaseLabs products but the SMA8 doesnt seem to be included. I'm not sure if they are cross compatable.

What I'm looking for is a clean, compatable, magnetic filter solution for a liquid cooled (2gpu+cpu) build. Any ideas? Any CaseLabs owners with similar experience?

Advice on other case solutions appreciated, limited to ~26" tall (27" is absolute max, no topfan breathing room). No cubes pls, the dog wont allow anything much wider. Here's my old Antec900 (~19" tall) to get an idea of size restraint.

@Judist

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

demcifilters can work with customers about having custom filters. many on

the OCN forums (CaseLabs hangout) had submitted filter ideas and demci

made production runs from those ideas and samples. the only one

(depending on config) would be the front arrangement. all the others are

pretty much borrowed from other CL models. some on the OCN forum made

their own with a lot of success using foam, screen and other filter materials).

The demciflex filters are very restrictive. So while they do a good job keeping dust out, they also choke airflow a lot. I would suggest going with Silverstone 120mm filters or going naked with quick disconnects on the rads as I am doing. That way, you can just pop out the rad assembly and take it outside for some dusting.

Hmm, I was just reading about their restriction elsewhere so I guess this verifies it.

Its unfortunate CaseLabs doesnt offer a better solution out of the box, I'm hellbent on removable filters. Silverstone filters look nice but they're screwed into each fan individually, sounds like a pain.

Looking into picking a different case.

I can understand why they don't offer filters yet, given there are so many different ways to mount fans in the cases. If dust is a big deal, get a Datavac compressor like I did and just go filter less. The exterior panels with the mesh holes act as pseudo filters.

Looks like I'll be going Merlin SM8 to ensure space under the desk. It'll allow room for casters as well.

Build will include an optical and slim fan controller.

For rads it looks like I'm limited to a 420 (140.3) top rad with a 280 (140.2) front rad mount (so as not to impede top 2 bays).

Hoping thats enough for 2xgpu+cpu.

I really digging the idea if using 140mm thin filters.

I'm not sure how restrictive they are, but they would be a breeze to install between the fan and case. Both my rad mounts are removable which would also help with the task of cleaning.

My problem is my dog blows her undercoat once or twice a year and its a truly epic ordeal. These should help keep the hair out.
