It looks awful... nobody has seen any full blown gameplay videos yet just concept videos nobody actually knows whether its going to be good.

looks as in the engine it uses, frostbite will destroy the style the old games had. I'm suspecting that SWBF3 will look like BF3, but StarWars and better textures and graphics.

Frost-bite 3 powers a lot of EA games and this is not Battlefront 3 its a first-person re imagining with stuff taken directly from the lucas-films offices model wise.

Would make sense with an upgrade to the series but whatever.

Star Wars Battlefronts core gameplay is almost the exact same as Battlefield that's why DICE is making it.

DICE is the best studio to make this game because they know how to make a large scale shooting game with vehicles.

Everything they showed so far looks great and promising.

Also there is no way it's coming next year because EA got the Star Wars licence just last year so the game is just a year in development.

You can clearly see that they're still veeeeerrry early in development.

Also the InEngine footage we saw was mind blowing good looking.

@JasonRoGo

Indeed DICE are good at making huge multi-scale maps for people who can deal with running half a minute until you get to shoot someone.
Battlefront 1 and two were not like that, I can tell you from my own couple of thousand of hours into those games.

Battlefront 1 & 2 had an amazing mod making community, and the game really supported mods. With Dice being in control, these Mods will be replaced with expensive DLC.

I think the Battlefront series loses it's charm by doing this.

This is my most viewed video, laggy as ****
Showcasing a nice mod!

I believe the charm of the Battlefront series is that it's uh, Star Wars? People really like to play up modding, don't they...

The loss of mods I don't believe to be as big a deal as it seems to the modding community I'd imagine, I'd rather believe that the thing that's going to make this lose it's charm is the fact it'll be a Battlefield re-skin.

I find it funny when people complain about things like map-sizes.

There is no situation I have encountered where I have gone for longer than two minutes without finding another player that didn't have a perfectly valid reason.

The maps are open and large because they're designed to work with large teams, whereas other games will have smaller maps like in COD and Halo where the teams are 4 and/or 8. Battlefield can get up to 32 players on a team and they have to account for that.

Maps like Golmud Railway have large open spaces and on Conquest at least, the objectives are all on a line in the middle, if you're at the bottom objective it's not even 30 seconds to get from there to the next point up the chain, but if you decide to spawn in at the spawn point on the furthest sides and run to the objectives, it's obviously going to take your time, this is why there are vehicles, to get you to objectives quicker.

Also, if you're out in the middle of nowhere, why would you run into other players? Get on points and if you're playing on a 64 man server then i'm sure you'll encounter people way before half a minute.

And alas, you have fallen prey to the typical bullshit we see all the time. All we saw was a very small space in the engine and all you have to do is look back not even that long to the release of Watch Dogs to see how people who flock to the appeal of graphics fail to realize that when you increase the space of what they have to fill, they can't have the entire game look as grand because it'd just be too much. What we saw of Watch Dogs in the original E3 preview was most likely a small square chunk taken out of the world map and had all the things put in that they wanted, but when they increased the size of the world they found that it would take too much processing power, more than the consoles and the average PC has, mind you, to run it. So sure, this little section here looks absolutely marvellous, but in a gameplay environment at 60 FPS it's highly unlikely we'll have this much fidelity, and if we do, then I'd imagine they're gods at optimization or the more likely aspect is that they've had to cut corners elsewhere in the coding and programming so more processing could focus on the graphics. (This is another upsetting aspect of gaming, with all the growths in hardware, we as gamers are all fixated on graphics, when we could easily be seeing things like better AI, better draw-distances, all the things that happen under the hood which are just taken for granted..)

They are also known for having a lot of issues in their game, and along with EA, they can be right cunts when it comes to fixing the issues.

So, expect issues, expect DLC and expect them to fix about half the issues by the time the DLC cycle begins to end and we'll at that point be already prepared to move onto the next title that comes out.

(Because hey, they said they'd stop the development of DLC until the bugs in BF4 were fixed, right? Well, so much for that, eh.)

@NICKT

I believe the point were you said the thing that makes it lose it's charm is the battlefield reskin is very good. But I believe modding is a big part of star wars too. Having played with constantly over 15 mods changing my experience a lot I don't want to change that.

Though I'm not honestly too fussed, personally, I actually wouldn't mind just a re-skin because as it stands, Battlefield isn't exactly a bad game, it just has issues that I hope gets fixed and worked through, but I doubt it.

The one thing I definitely want to look forward to, and it's something that I get the feeling of every time I play Battlefield: Whenever I get into a chopper, I immediately have a mental image of this:

normal_LAAT.jpg

If I had the capability to, I'd seriously spend all of my free time re-working Battlefield 4 so that it looked like Star Wars, because there's a small child inside of me that would love to be a Clone Trooper jumping out of a LAAT onto the sands of Geonosis and shoot out a couple Battle Droids.

I seriously doubt you have played Star Wars Battlefront 2, but flying like that was a feature.

I played a little bit of Battlefront 2 on the Xbox, but after watching some videos of Battlefront 2 I believe rather that I wouldn't be able to handle the clunky controls and dated gameplay/engine.

Yeah, good point. I feel like the battlefront series needs a new game, but I don't know if Frostbite is the best to make it in. Anyway, I look forward to playing Battlefront, however I'm not sure if I'll enjoy it.

First Ubisoft always makes the E3 demos look way better than the actual game EA has actually never done that.

Second Watchdogs is also on Ps3/Xbox360/WiiU Star Wars Battlefront is Ps4/XboxOne/PC only so no need for sacrifices.

And third by the time the game releases we will have the 800-900 series so GTX780 Ti performance will be mid range and DX12/Mantle support from day one.

People underestimate what a good DX11 GPU can do.

The Last Of Us runs in DX9 with 256mb ram and a GPU that doesn't even have 1 stream processor/CUDA core.

So I'm pretty confident that this would run on most GPUs today especially on something like GTX780 TI that has about 25x the power of a ps3.

Also DICE has actually amazing bug support unlike most in the industry.

They have bugs but they actually work with the community and fix them unlike Ubisoft that still hasn't fix the 90% Loading bug on Watchdogs or any performance issues.

They have now CTE and they release 1-2 patches a week that not only go into Battlefield but also into Frostbite 3.

People talk a lot of crap about EA making buggy games but they at least fix them.

Neither Ubisoft nor Activison acknowledge bugs nor fix them.

And DICE is one of the few developers that actually make the PC version way better than the console version.
