$1000-1200 Build Help

Prolite

Hey guys,

I've recently decided in the next month or so i'll be building a way better computer than what i have now. I want an Intel processor and watercooling so i can overclock later on

i also want to be able to stream well, i have the internet to do so, but not the computer. games like WoW, League and CS:GO would be the ones. Any ideas on what to do with $1000-$1200?

I like this build, but do you think it would be better to get a 770 and upgrade to 12-16gb of ram? or bigger power supply just in case?

Nope. You dont need 12/16GB for gaming, PSU may cut it kinda close but it will be enough. I'd up it to the Corsair CX 600W though

Yes and no. You wont have any problem running a second monitor, but you wont be able to game on both of them at the same time since Eyefinity from AMD and Surround from Nvidia both dont support 2 monitor, you need 3 monitors for those. (it make sense since with 2 monitor you have a line in the middle, where the aimming/main char etc usually is)

But having a 2 monitors setup myself it's quite great for works. And while gaming I can still see my FB message.

Again, you really dont need a 12GB Ram, get 8 Ram and if it ever not going to be enough for you buy another one late on down the line, and the 290 will be better than 770 for sure.

Everything else seem ok to me.

So you are going for a lower end GPU for what reason? the fastest possible build was posted by me, take off the mouse and keyboard and headphones, and you have cash to spare.

Nope it is not at all, SSD is not a GPU/CPU now is it? plus my build has an OS and peripherals.

Yeah, but my GPU has better cooling = more safe overclocking

My processor is cooled by a better CPU cooler = better overclockning.

And then you tell me you have cash to spare, not to spend on the build. Yeah mine is faster.

You ever used a H100 or like to pretend?

The Noctua is cheaper and just as good.

The PCS+ has a better cooler than the DCUII, maybe you should look it up before chatting.

And if you want to go there with OC's, you know full well you never know what you will get from your hardware.

I may have stated what i did wrong, it is a better build than yours as it offers more important stuff for the user, do you have decent mouse/keyboard? do you even have an OS?

I do not know many people who would rather have a small SSD than important stuff.

I agree with @Erik4boss here. Your build is by no mean better than his. The core stuff which is the CPU and GPU is the same (his GPU is even better), and you dont even have a SSD. 120GB SSD is by no mean small, and up to a 1500$ build I'd still recommend 120GB over 250GB. You are missing the point by saying you have a decent keyboard and mouse, that's irrelevent as the topic maker dont even say that he need one. The H100i is really good, I own one~ And your chart is just the reference cooler, not the custom cooler.

Up to 1500? where did this come from? i was not aware of the raised budget.

Anyway no, the DCUII is in fact not better, it is actually worse at cooling, it however is not a reference PCB

What I mean is whenever I make a build for any budget from the range of 1000 to 1500$, I still put a 120GB SSD in no matter what, and it's by no mean small for what you can do with it.

We shall move along i think as i do not want a full blown out war with anyone, i simply cannot recommend any AIO cooler no longer, my H100 was a terrible performer (yes it worked fine) and it also had a rattling pump.

An SSD can add responsiveness outside of games, but just doing general every day things.

The OP has great builds here in this thread, don't let us deter you from making a choice.

and my apology if i offended or pissed folk off, i am quite enthusiastic sometimes :P

Are there any other suggestions on what to do!? is the case big enough??

i went with 12gb of ram because i want to and don't mind spending over a little bit.

Great build, but your ram choice is not compatible, that set of ram is for the 1366 platform (Bloomfield)

You need a set of dual channel ram, but overall the build is just dandy :)
