Games that have a paid subscription tend to have higher quality and more dedicated players. Free to play invites everybody-

-and I mean EVERYBODY.

Are you referring to no monthly fees or the entirety is free. My option on entirely F2P games getting a lot of negativity would be that people perceive them as games that just "couldn't make it" and probably see them as an inferior game title.

There have been very few games that were good quality and did their F2P solution fairly.

-Allods Online. Started out extremely good but quickly turned to shit when another publisher took over. It quickly became pay to win and there are barely 1000 players left.

-Age of Conan. Launched badly but did sell over a million copies, recordbreaking for an MMO in preorders. Mass exodus due to lack of quality, has since vastly improved and the F2P solution they brought in is excellent and provided a boost to the playerbase and it has since going F2P launched another expansion and just a few weeks ago a large adventure pack with lots of new content. Probably the least aggressively monetized F2P MMO out there. It did at one point have extremely low-tier PvP gear in the cash shop that drew some negative press from ignoramuses.

-The Secret World. Not technically free to play, but it does have microtransactions and the base cost is just $30 with no sub. (Buy to play) The cash shop is and always was pure cosmetics.

-TF2. Well, it's not pay to win or anything, but they're pretty much not even providing new content any more. It's a skeleton operation, running as F2P for a minimum of cash flow.

-Star Trek Online. It IS pay to win, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. However, if you put in a LOT of effort, you may hardcore-grind-to-win. It is another massively improved since launch MMO.

-Lord of the Rings. Similar to Star Trek Online.

-Blacklight Retribution. While it's not fair to call it pay to win, you can pay for stat advantages. They are really small though, and if you play it for 200 hours you may come across one person total that spent enough money to bury you from a mile away with 2 bullets.

Those are the ones I consider good or ok. Hawken is pending judgement, it doesn't look good atm, seems like it's going to be a lot more pay to win than all of the above.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I would add DC Universe Online to the list. Started as a subscription based game, then jumped ship to F2P. I don't recall it being pay to win, but I haven't played it in well over a year.

Add Dota 2 to it its the best F2P i played to date has nothing that you can use to get an advantage in game.

On another game i hate F2P games like League of Legends.

I would add Wargaming.net games to that list World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and soon World of Warships. While they have premium purchase tanks if you don't know how to play no purchased product is going to keep you alive and the actual grind top tier tanks have better specs. Anything someone can purchase with money can be accessed thru playing the game.

We can build it, we have the technology!

How about Path of Exile.....? They have one of the best f2p models out of any game right now.

I played it and that is what micro transactions should be. They don't give you an advantage in gameplay they just give you cosmetic upgrades.

I must admit that in the shooting scene of f2p teh quality of games is increasing a lot. One of my most played games is Blacklight retribution and i would buy the game if it was a pay to play game.
