My dad asked me to build him a Hackintosh workstation, I accepted this offer gladly of course.
I've got a configuration and I would like to know if there's any avid Hackintosh builders that could assist me.

Is this configuration going to work with Mac OS X? is there any better parts to get in the same price bracket?

Processor: Intel i7 4930K

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4

GPU: Asus GTX770 2gb DirectCU II OC

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LP

PSU: Corsair AX760

Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 1TB

Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 Arctic White

Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

All costs roughly 1750 euros.

The NH-D14 is blocking the first PCI slot, which isn't a huge problem, but I'm considering the Corsair H100i also, would this be a better option (30% price increase)?

My dad already has a Dell U2713HM 2560x1440 monitor and a generic mouse/keyboard which he's also going to use for the hackintosh.

am I missing something? Or do I have a good config for my dad right here?

Thank you so much for your time!

Thanks! The 770 is good as far as I know, it's the first listed GTX770 2gb here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/416-building-customac-buyer-s-guide-march-2014.html#gfx_cards

I was thinking about the GTX780, TonyMac x86 said that the drivers for it are experimental, how is that going for you? :)

Great! well, in that case I'll ask my dad if he wants the faster (more expensive) card or not :)

Any comments on the noctua/corsair cooler? what would be the better choice?

I was wondering, if he wants a workstation perhaps he's not interested in a gaming card. Maybe he would prefer a quadro or firepro instead, they help a lot more with video editing etc.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

It's a prosumer workstation, he's mainly using CPU intensive programs (Autocad etc.) and he's most likely not going to do video editing (if he will that would be his first time), therefore the GPU isn't the main concern. Furthermore, the Quadro cards aren't supported anymore (or at least they're not listed on TonyMac) and are way more expensive. The 770 is fine in terms of performance. But thanks for the tip anyways.

I asked my dad if he wanted the H100i or Noctua, and he told me he like the AIO, so that's what I'm going with, purely aesthetics in this case, as they both perform very well :)

The one thing I have to say that hasn't been already been said is the case doesn't have that 'Apple style' to it if you know what I mean, a Fractal Design case would look more apple like IMO. Just a subjective opinion.

Jup, if I'd build it myself I would probably have gone with something like that, but my dad  thinks it's a bit too boring :) So he's going with the army box! :D

The Silverstone FT-03 is my absolute favourite Hackintosh case, haven't seen it in real life yet, but it looks stunning in pictues. Too bad 2011 is way too big for M-ITX builds :P
