I have been looking at SSHDs for my PC (this one in particular: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=210_902_1205&products_id=24834). I was wondering how much of this 2TB is actually flash storage? I have been looking everywhere and I can't find it :(

Thanks,

Nick

Why do you want a hybrid drive? You should rather get a dedicated SSD for OS and a regular HDD for storage. The ones I've suggested are more expensive than the hybrid drive, but if you can get cheaper stuff if you prefer.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-5820K, Corsair H115i, Asus X99-Deluxe/USB 3.1, G.Skill Ripjaws4 32GB 2800MHz CL16, Zotac RTX 3070, Samsung 950 Pro 512GB in Angelbird Wings PX1, Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, 5*Seagate 12TB, Cooler Master V1200, Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, Windows 10 Pro. Phillips 328P6VUBREB, Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB Cherry MX Brown, Logitech G502 X Plus, Sennheiser HD700.

AYANEO 2S: AMD 7800U, 32GB 7500MHz, 2TB WD SN850X. Windows 11.

the flash storage is 8 gb and it is utilized quite well, I have a similar SSHD in my laptop (SSHD's are awesome for laptops that don't have extra storage slots) it boots up as fast as a desktop with an SSD and I seriously can't complain about my laptop's hard drive performance (this is with a 5400 RPM drive while you're going for the 7200 RPM which is faster)

for people on a budget it makes A LOT of sense to use an SSHD. especially if you live in places other than america with crazy stupid prices. a regular 2TB HDD costs around the same as an SSHD here.

Thats my choice for now, I was just looking into the SSHDs.

Thats my choice for now, I was just looking into the SSHDs.

For example, these two choices; a Kingston V300 120GB and a Seagate 2TB cost only 30$ more than the SSHD, but deliver consistently much better performance.

I'd even go so far as to recommend getting the SSD now and the HDD later, but if you are not willing to do so, the SSHD is fine.

the 120 gb kingston and the SSHD cost around the same here in South Africa. SSHD http://www.comx-computers.co.za/HD-S2000H64-eagate-ST2000DX001-Desktop-2000Gb-Sata3-Buy-p-79993.php

the 2TB HDD is the same price as the SSD: http://www.comx-computers.co.za/HD-S2000S6B64-Seagate-Barracuda-7200RPM-2TB-Hard-Drive-Buy-p-55985.php

So I personally would get the SSHD and get an SSD later on because I use the storage.

OP is in Australia. All links I've posted are from the same store as the OP's link.

It doesn't matter how much stuff costs in South Africa in context of this post. Yes, on a budget in South Africa, it would make more sense to get a SSHD.

That Seagate 2TB would be a good choice in my opinion.  We put the 1TB model in my sons pc... as far as bootup speed goes, his is faster than mine.  I use a Samsung Evo 120gb as my boot drive for Windows 8.1, my sons SSHD boots 8.1 faster.  I have no idea which will last longer between his SSHD or my SSD, only time will tell us.  But as of now... my next build will not have a SSD, I'm only using SSHD from now on because I'm impressed with them.

They are quite underestimated though. and it might be something else in your pc causing that small delay?

Nope... nothings wrong with my Evo, it's just that those Seagate SSHD's are very fast as well.  When the computer is totally off... then we switch the PSU lever on, my SSD & my sons SSHD boot up in like 10 seconds.  They are both really fast with Windows 8.1.  The only thing I question about the SSHD is if it will last longer than the SSD.

Yeah, seems about right.

I vaguely remembered 16gb cache for something. But also, it seems logical to have around 16gb if they actually intend to cache anything proper for a 2tb hdd.

Then again, I haven't put much research into sshd's recently
