I have installed OpenVPN on Ubuntu 14.04 I think and am trying to set up a VPN that allows me to go on sites blocked at school. I have installed it and I tried adding another network connection in the form of a VPN using OpenVPN as the choice and now I am met with a form that needs to be filled out for a VPN connection. I don't know what to put in any of these. I am looking for a free vpn service I could use for this purpose and if it is located in Canada than even better the connection I'll be able to get. The download speed at my school is 100mbps btw. Thanks :)

For free if you have a computer running the openvpn server client 24/7 at home. Then make the .ca cert and .opvn files with the server client. Make a login. Then on the computer at school use those files and login to connect to your home connection at school.

Ya I don't want to have to connect to my own network because I have a data cap and that is half the reason I'm doing this at school. The other half is I only have 5/1 and school has 100/60

What browser are you using? If you're using chromium try installing an extension called "hola". If you're using firefox try installing an add-on called "media hint".

It only has ovpn files in it and all of the authority certificates say that its not a file type they can you. it wants a .pem, .crt, .key, .cer only.

Sorry for the late resopnce. If you are still working on this once you install openvpn go to the program files [x86program files] find the openvpn folder then in there there should be a config folder. Put the .ca cert and .opvn file in there then next time you open the openvpn gui and right click on the icon in the bottom right it should have the connection there.

I'm doing this on ubuntu so it's not the program files its the etc/openvpn folder which at the moment only contains a configuration file. Where do I go about putting the 4 ovpn files? and how do I connect and disconnect to the vpn service after it's all set up?

np for the late reply I went to bed right after I replied too :)
