Z97 Micro ATX Suggestion

I am planning to do a new build as soon as the Devil's Canyon i5-4690K is available, and I am looking for some motherboard suggestions. The motherboard needs to be MICRO ATX, and I also want Z97 so I don't have to deal with any BIOS updates. I am currently looking at the Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5, but I don't know if there is a better option for me. As for price, I would like to keep it under $150 USD, but going slightly over isn't the end of the world. One other thing is I don't see the point of regular PCI anymore, so I would rather if there are none of those.

Thanks for your help!

The Gryphon would be ok, but is it SLI compatible? I only ask because it doesn't specifically say it anywhere and not all boards with the available slots are SLI compatible.

I looked at this one but it has too many regular PCI slots.

Read again.  Gryphon isn't that much over.  ROG board isn't even expensive.

Their only suggestions. It his choice to decide what he feels has value.

I didn't see that, thank you

Also if you get the Z97 Gryphon you can optionally choose to put the TUF armor on it if you like.

The looks are cool IMO.  But that backplate is a complete joy to work with and strengthens the mobo. also has cooling benifts.

JJ from Asus said this armor kit for the Z87 version will work on the Z97.

I would, but I don't want to spend over $200 on just a motherboard when I'm on somewhat of a budget.

buy it latter then.  its optional. you can do that at your leisure. I am only informing you that it exists.  its a personal taste/choice thing.   I have read many buying TUF boards and removing the armor.

Reason why asus made a new SKU with and without armor for the Z97 TUF boards.

For that price, I would definitely go with the Gigabyte Gaming 5. It's a very good line.

The only Z97 mATX board that brings a tangible advantage that I can find is the Maximus VII Gene, which is quite a bit more expensive.

If it were my money, I'd go for Gigabyte.
