Help me with this?

So I a friend of mine is debating between a 3 way 6GB MSI R9 280x set up or a single 8GB  Sapphire R9 290x (Overclockers UK)


He wants to do a 3 way 1080p but doesn't really understand the importance of VRAM or why a multi-GPU set up would be more beneficial, so is there any way you guys can help me try to explain it to him?

I would go dual 290 non X 4gb.

4gb is enough for that res and dual 290 probably even cheaper than the otger solutions.

I've tryed telling him that but he doesn't understand the reasoning behind why it would be. He has the concept of my Vram means higher FPS

the 8GB Vapor X is way overpriced

 

and not possible to be able to use up to that amount of VRAM

 

watchdogs uses up to 4GB

 

and why your friend wants 3 way?

 

290 in X-Fire will beat the crap out of the three 280X

show him a low end gpu like the R7 240 with 4GB and a R7 250 with 1GB of VRAM

 

and show him the benchmarks between them
