I've tried removing the stock heat sink fan on my AMD FX8350 and have managed to bend the pinspost-85348-0-51809500-1402501782_thumb.j will this of damaged the motherboard?

Also when trying to attach the new corsair H105 to my ROG ASUS crosshair V formula-Z it tells you to remove the top brackets and attach the black screws. When I do there is about 3 to 4 mm of space is this right will the gap be on the top side of the motherboard when you tighten the thumb screws down?

Can't really tell which pin has been bent from the image. You can try to bend them back into place, its not too hard. Just don't exert too much pressure or you may risk breaking a pin off.

The cooler shouldn't be loose when you've tightened the screws, if by gap you mean the part at the bottom of those mounting screws with the threaded ends and it's still on tight when the screws are done up it's fine.

Watch this video

If you snap one of the pins the CPU is done unless you are a soldering guy, however the ones that are bent that I can see are only slightly bent and should be able to be very gently bent back with a steady hand.

Just try to bend the pin back but very carefully, if you wiggle it too hard it can break off, just bend it a bit and try to test fit until it fits again.

And just try to mount the cooler and keep an eye on the cpu temps, if you see something worrying let us know, but i have this issue too with my h100i but it's just 2mm, but i have an intel cpu. Just test it :)

If you break the pin you can also try putting the pin in the socket where it's supposed to go. And maybe you bent ground and it keeps working without.
