Difference between R9 290 and GTX 780? Pretty much, price. Nowadays Nvidia drivers are even worse than AMD believe it or not, AMD has really caught up.

About $100 or so  :P  They are very evenly matched in terms of performance. Nvidia will perform better on some games, AMD on others.

Like that build, I dont need the case, already have one, I used to have a full atx board (p5qc). Regarding the video board, I saw some reviews that show that powercolor is not a very good brand, there are others which are better. Also I dont mind paying extra for a better performance, maximum budget is 1200$.

They are slightly higher than Nvidia cards, but any good branded 550W+ psu will run one fine.

I always had nvidia cards, I had one ATI some time ago, and I didnt like it at all. Also nvidia is giving watchdogs for free with the purchase of the 7series video card. GTX 780 is worth it ? or too much money for nothing?

Just a quick question, is the i7 really worth the 100$ extra? An i5 will last 4 years without having any problems ?

By the time the i5 is outdated, the i7 would likely be outdated as well. No need for the i7 unless you need the extra threads.
