Excellent increase in BF4 performance!

I just reinstalled it and played through two full rounds with V-Sync off. Through the whole of those two rounds I was getting an average of 80-120FPS. This is an absolutely fantastic increase!

Another big bonus is that after putting everything back into my case my AMD R9 290 is now struggling to go above 80 degrees on full load (it would hit 91 degrees previously).

Very happy with these results!

Big thanks to i_build_nanosuits for being very patient and helpful with me.

That's pretty impressive. Nice.

The reference cooling design cards will run at higher operating temperatures versus the manufacturer's own cooling solution (i.e. MSi's Twin Frozr, Sapphire Tri-X, ASUS Direct CUII, etc). But capping off at ~80*C...wow.

He must have upped his fanspeed to get that temp, when I hadn't watercooled my R9 290X yet, I had adjusted target temp at 80C, man, the fans on the cards would really rev up when I was gaming. My nephew, who would buy only nVidia cards previously before going HD6990, was so impressed with AMD that he next upgraded to an Asus R9 290X DCU II and he tells me temp was <75C (I think it was 72C IIRC) after more than an hour of BF4 (using DX11 though). I think he's an AMD convert..... ;)

Haven't read any posts. My 2 cents. BF4 benchmarks in Single Player mode on all review sites for the sake of continuity. Single Player is far less demanding than a 48-64 player online battlefield. From this linked review in single player, min FPS of 55. I conclude that if you are referring to online multiplayer matches, than your computer is performing as well as it will with the GPU being fully utilized.

Run MSI Afterburner with your CPU usage in the OSD (on-screen display) and see if all 4 cores are humming at 100%, if so, it would reason to get the FX, if not, what I stated above is valid.

Talli-hoo.

i3-4170, H81 board, 8GB DDR3, Crucial M4, GTX 770, Xigmatek Vangaurd Case, Creative Titanium X-fi, Razer Carcharias, 500w PSU, 24" VA panel and a 42" IPS. Thinking about getting a plant.

Thanks! it's been awesome for me so far :D I'll throw you an add next time I hop on BF4.

Yeah I'm a bit shocked at the 80 degrees myself to be honest. It was usually higher before I put in my new parts (I did some cable management this time around though).

The only game that pushes it to 92 degrees at the moment is Sleeping Dogs, no other game can seem to push it that high.

Yeah my fanspeed (through MSI afterburner) is usually set to 47%-50% when playing a game. Anything higher than 50% and it gets a bit too loud IMO.

Thanks for the info! Everything seems to be great now with my FX 8350!

battlefield is cpu heavy. you need a 6 core if you want ~100 fps minimum. anyone who says otherwise please read the chipreview write up on frostbite 2's limit of cores for bf3. I cant link it because im at work an it is blocked.

Mind linking it? FB2 = BF3 = 4 cores is all thats been taken advantage of. BF4 = FB3 = 6 cores
