Hey all, I've been looking to speed up my windows and applications but I don't know much about SSDs to decide myself. There seem to be a lot of variation in the price for the same storage capacity, which is the main reason for this post. Is it the difference in read/write speeds or something else in addition for the price difference? I need a 128 gig SSD for my OS and everyday applications. I store most of the games on my HDD and I might install a game or two on the SSD if I need faster load times.

My PC specs (not sure if they matter)

Intel i5-3550

8 GB Corsair Vengance 1600Mhz

Asus R9 - 280X DCUT

1080p monitor

Windows 7 x64, soon 8.1

Applications I use most : Office, movies, browsing, Photoshop, Illustrator, music.

I'm just an average guy who needs his comp even faster for everyday tasks. So price is the biggest deciding factor. I would prefer a good price/performance SSD, although I don't mind sacrificing a bit of performance for a cheaper option. Having said that, if you guys want to highly recommend an SSD regardless of price, I am open to consider (128 GB of course). Thanks in advance!  =)

For home use, I say get the cheapest one (from a reputable brand) you can. Problem solved. Won't notice the difference.

I have 6 ssd'd in 3 machines, the OCZ's have been reliable but not the fastest.  Samsung 840 Pro has been great and very fast, my new Seagate 600 SSD at 480GB is faster than the 840 pro.  The 600 was on sale for .38 cents a GB, normal price is .45 a GB.

I have 6 EVOs, 2 Samsung 840 Pros, a Crucial M4 and even a Samsung 840. I prefer EVOs but for the price, I think that MX100 is your best bet. I'd probably get those from here on out for cheap fast storage.

Don't get the EVO, since its more expensive and not that faster than MX100.

Go with crucial. People are just uneducated and recommend EVO, because it was once king of value. But its not anymore and there is no point in buying one, unless its on massive sale.
