I have a 7970. It idles at 65-75 degrees and while playing games it goes from 85-95 depending on the game. How long will it last? I wanted to wait to RMA until the card died or began to artifact so I got the whole card replaced so I could sell it as new. Would it last too long for that to make any sense? I think the problem is one fan that only works half of the time and the other spins at a low RPM no matter what my settings. So I don't want them to just replace the cooler and call it a day since it costs 50$ to RMA. So how long do you think until the card artifacts or dies completely? I don't need specifics, just a general idea if any of you guys have any :)

Oh.... I thought they would just replace the fans and thermal compound and send it back

They'll make sure it's broken, and they'll send you a different one. Then they'll fix the one they sent you.

That way they can send you a card back ASAP.

Case: Lian Li PC011-D - CPU: 3900x - GPU: 2080ti Reference - Mobo: Gigabyte - Ram: Corsair 4x16gb 3200MHz - SSD: 2TB Samsung Evo NVME

Well hopefully that's not what they'll do

a quick RMA won't hurt given that it's XFX

People with old XFX Geforce cards (before XFX got unfortunately kicked off Nvidia's board partner list) got new current gen Radeon XFX cards under RMA as long as warranty was still in effect.

Well last time it took 3 weeks  from the card leaving my house to getting back to my front door. Not sure if that is fast or not, sure as hell felt like a long time since I don't have any other cards xD

At least you have HD 4000 on the 3570K

I would have to buy another GPU because my E3 does not have a functional iGPU

That's a high idle, and I bet it's throttling underload giving you worse performance. It could be as simple as a loose screw. Check there's no dust and the screws on the back of the card are tight, there should be 4 in the middle.

Yeah everything is all tight, it's the fact that I only have .5 of a fan...

With electronics you never really know. It may last some months but then it may last for some years. I would RMA it though or get back my money and get something else if i could.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.
