Upgrading

Go to solution Solved by bbqsauce,

something like a 4790k and z97 mobo

Getting new psu and gfx card soon. It is EVGA 1000 P2 80P, and 295x2

My mobo is the old msi X58 pro-e, CPU is i7-950 @ 3.07ghz

Do I need new mobo and cpu?

Currently gaming at 1080p but intending to go ultrawide 21:9 later on. I only want to upgrade if I possibly have bottleneck when playing 2560 x 1080.

Thanks a lot

ps: playing starcitizen, skyrim with stupid amounts of graphic mods, and more graphically intensive games too.

would 4770k and z97 atx suffice?

that also remind me i need to get up to 8gb. Dont know why i still have 6gb ram.

Most likely, if i was you i'd go for the 4790k

4770k would be enough but the 4790k is newer

you're at 6gb most likely because you have 3x2gb ram. since x58 is triple channel afterall.

getting a new ram kit wouldn't hurt. 16 gb if you do editing/rendering otherwise 8 is enough

Since you play a heavily modded Skyrim, you will need 16+ of RAM.

Go for the i7-4790k and pair it with a Z97 motherboard.
