Weird prebuild power issue

Hi guys,

 

so I'm lost with this issue. A friend of mine got the Dell Pro Tower T2. Issue is that when he first plugged it in a power bar and the system would not boot. Power button light would turn on but then it would go into the error code sequence: 8 white, 1 orange. He didn't check the code but rather plugged it straight into the outlet. The office where the PC is has two different outlets: one normal and one connected to the UPS. Normal one would work fine but only if we unplugged the power cord, unplugged one of the monitors and pressed the power button a few times. If we try to boot it using the UPS plug, it dies the same way it does on the power strip.

 

I looked up the boot code, it said it was a BIOS issue. 

 

PC was sent to the shop a couple of times and they changed the PSU and motherboard. They say that they've never seen this issue and from what I know haven't been able to replicate it.

 

Like I said, it's a Dell Pro Tower T2, Core Ultra 7 256, 32 GB of DDR5, Nvidia RTX A400, 360W PSU

 

Have you ever seen anything like that?

Why was it sent to a shop and not Dell?

Shop is the distributor and service point for Dell here

Can you record a video of it happening?

 

If the shop can't replicate the plug in power up... They're basically saying you're wrong.

 

If they replaced the PSU and motherboard and you're still getting the issue... Either your friend has really bad power at his work or the shop is lying to you.

 

It's a repeatable issue for your friend, no?  Record the entire process.
