Country: India

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Emulation (Batocera - Upto PS3) and Windows (General Purposes)

Hello World,

I had my old PC turn into a Batocera Emulation station. It was a i3 9100F, RX570 4GB, 16GB 2400mHz DDR4, 512GB SATA SSD and 450W PSU PC

It was not used for a while so i connected it to my TV, ran Batocera through a flash drive and everything was working well for about 3 weeks. Then, I saw a big green screen and the PC never gave a display output again, it was turning On the fans spun but no display. I tried to fix it, I couldn't do it. So, gave the system to a local well known PC shop. Their diagnosis was the Mobo had some corrosion and that resulted in the no display.

They changed the mobo and the PC started to work. While they were testing the GPU stopped working is what I heard from them. I'm yet to hear back from them.

Worst case scenario if I need a new emulation system I was thinking of getting a Ryzen 5 5500 (New), 3070 8GB (Used), B450/550 Mobo and 600W PSU

I'll be re using the RAM, Case, Flashdrive for batocera and SSD

Is this a good build will this be good for Emulation?

5500 - 8700INR - 91.68USD

3070 - 23,999INR - 253USD

I also have an option for a used i7 9700 for 10,999INR - 115USD

Or should I drop this project and be happy with my PC. It is a 9600x, 9060XT, 32GB DDR5 PC

You already have a 9600x with a 9060 xt? Why not just run emulation on that?!?! Why do you need a second system for emulation?

Yess, the PC was lying around and the TV had a free HDMI port. Also my parents use the PC time to time. So i don't want them to have any issues while I'm not present

What issues would they have? They could use it like they normally do, then when you want to play a game, fire up retro arch or your emulator of choice.

It is a niche thing. I want to use the TV for gaming, Batocera plug n Play was amazing. Also when the PC is in use, i can use the secondary one.
