So today I wanted to be nostalgic and play Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, for whatever reason, and I installed the disc, tried to run it and it said there was an error. I tried to uninstall it using the Control Panel uninstall programs thing in windows, and it won't uninstall properly.  What do I do to get it to work...and if I can't get it to work, to just get it off my PC?

If the game is meant to run with WinXP or older machines, it doesn't really support newer OS. You can try using it with compatibility mode but that works rarely well. You can just delete files of any programs you want to remove or use 3rd party uninstaller.

No, you absolutely can not just "delete" the files of program you don't want. If the program has been installed, which it has in the OP's case, it needs be removed from the registry.

OP, a few questions to go over to troubleshoot your situation.

Is the program still listed in the Add/Remove Programs list in Windows?

If not then it has been removed from the registry and you are good to go, just clean up any files.

If it is still present, what is the error message you are receiving when you try to uninstall it?

If you continue having trouble uninstalling it, you can try running the installer again to repair the installation. That should replace any missing files that are preventing the normal uninstall process from working.

I meant in add/remove programs.  It's still there.  I launch the game, it goes to the start menu, I click play, it says error game files missing or something.  I try uninstalling it.  I go through all the steps in add/remove programs, then the final window tells me the game had maintenance performed on it, instead of uninstalling like the previous steps showed it was doing. I just don't get it.

Try running the original installer again. Like I said in my post, that should replace any missing files that are preventing the uninstaller from doing what it's supposed to. Once you do that, try uninstalling via a 3rd party uninstaller, like the one included with CCleaner. (official site for it seems to be down at the moment)
