am2+ cpu help

i am upgrading my dads am2 dual core 1.90ghz athlon and his board supports all am2+ cpu's as he dosent want to upgrade the rest at the moment due to money,

is the AMD Phenom X4 9600 cpu a good choice or is there a better one i can get him? he wants it to last more than a year with out needing a new motherboard and ram

his tasks involve:

home video edditing (he has 4gb ddr2)

photo edditing

web browsing (and hd video playback)

and he has a few games he likes to play nothing being to demanding

not many cpus am2+ above that one so sounds like a good choice.

do you know the motherboard that he's using it might have a better choice of cpus available with a bios update ,

it can take all am3 cpus as well so might be an idea getting an am3 one

looks like you could possible be able to run an Phenom II quad or hex core cpu , those would be nice to run

need to use cpuZ give your board's version number and bios installed atm  to double check tho
