My rig has trouble booting sometimes with the power color 9070xt red devil, giving me the blue screen and forcing reboot recovery to get back into windows. Sometimes it does get all the way to windows and works fine, though it did crash once and have the boot issue afterwards. I was able to get all drivers updated during one of these boots.

System specs:

5800X

32GB DDR4

MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

Corsair RM1000x

Troubleshooting steps taken:

disable automatic PCIe link speed in bios, set to gen 4

ensure card has 3 separate power leads to the PSU, none pigtailed

Does anyone have any ideas on this? I switched back to my rtx 3060 and have had zero issues.

Did you uninstall the Nvidia drivers, with DDU, before you put in the 9070xt?

If yes then maybe the 9070xt is faulty, if your pc works with the 3060.

Can you bring the 9070xt to a friend's pc for testing? To see if it fails there aswell?

If it does fail then make use of the warranty.

I know people love DDU but in this case I'd do a full reinstall of Windows and pretend it's a new machine.

But the testing comments, I concur.

When did you upgrade your video card to a 9070XT?
Recent (e.g. within the last few days) or it's been sometime now?

What OS are you using (e.g. Windows 10, 11) ?

Windows 10 Legacy BIOS and UEFI is supported, but Windows 11 requires UEFI...unless you fudge with  the install and bypass a few things.

The 9070 XT officially only supports UEFI mode.

Windows 11 using UEFI. That was another step I took in making sure everything was working properly.

I didn’t uninstall Nvidia drivers before installing the 9070xt. I’ll see if I can get the 9070xt tested.

Well that's usually a HUGE issue, as Windows has driver conflicts like a champ now probably.

Clean the system up, then try the card.
