Did you buy it or build it? Is it actually new or just new to you? What's your spec?

This CPU with this motherboard does require a newer than "oldest" BIOS/firmware update. It's unfortunately basically impossible to tell which BIOS/firmware version a motherboard has without it POSTing (displaying), and if it's too old and in need of an update to support your CPU, it won't POST.

Your motherboard may have come with an up-to-date BIOS but it's unlikely to be stated on any boxes or included documents.

Oh well thank you so to the repair it goes

Well no, updating the BIOS is something the user is supposed to do.

Side note, yes it is lame that it's so complex - but your board may have a method that allows BIOS update without a compatibile CPU being installed.

If you attempt this, it's vital that you thoroughly read and carry out the instructions to do so accurately.

So if the motherboard doesn't allow it , it's trash?

Your motherboard does support that CPU so long as the BIOS is updated to the most recent version.

Also, again, this is just one of several possibilities, but a very real one. Some others here may have alternative suggestions of things to check first 🙂

Such as: Can you list all of the connectors going from the PSU to the motherboard, and confirm they're all firmly securely pushed all the way in?

So if I get all the new parts out and put the old go to asus website download the newest bios version then put the USB drive with it and click bios flbk it should work?

If indeed a BIOS update is what is missing, then following the isntruction using the specific download for your motherboard model is definitely a good thing to try.

i had this issue not long ago, i got a dark hero 8 x570, a refurb.  didnt support my 5950 like my crosshair 8 (wifi) hero.

anyway, get a thumbdrive, format it as FAT.  make SURE its FAT!  if you need, make a partition 1gb, 2 if u want.  i think 4 is the max? dont quote me on that, it isnt much.
then shove the bios file on the root of the drive (Z:\file.bin) except the "file.bin" needs to be whatever the manufacturer says.  for mine i forget, but its not what u get from the site.  theres a DOS file in the .zip (whatever) which renames it to "whateveryouneed.xyz" - just go on the manufacturers site and youll see what i mean

after youve dumped the file, flick the power on the PSU.  then put the usb in the port that has the white square around it - theres only one.  kinda hard to notice if your not looking for it.  then press and hold the button on the left, it isnt a circle arrow, mine is blue.  anyway hold that, itll stay lit.  read the instructions on ur board cause the light will either go out, or stay steady when its done.
btw the cpu can be installed, or not, this board\feature is designed to do this without...
mind you itll prob take like 5-10 mins, so go grab a coffee or something.

after that it should be fine, display a bios output at least.  lets hope you have a gpu if your cpu requires it?  just a thought.  simple stuff.

oh last thing, i made this mistake before, set me back like two weeks of headache.  if your Q-code readout IS cpu related, check n see if you have a fan plugged into the CPU header.  thats the middle one of the three closest to the cpu.  idc if your watercooling or whatever, if there isnt a "fan" plugged in when your POSTing for the first time, itll throw the code.
u can turn off cpu_fan in the bios - but if your overclocking it would be annoying to hook up a pseudo fan every time you crash ur system and have to "flashback".  just keep a fan on that cpu header and save a headache later

hope that helps buddy

idk why its underlined, anyway thats the general idea.
make sure you got a fan pluggedinto that dumb header

heres the bios, i have a ROG, yours isnt far off.  it HAS to be FAT, not fat32, not ntfs.  use "computer management" to figure that one out

So the 12 pin , the USB thingy below it , the power on led little cables, audio ,the 8pin for the cpu and all the fans

the 8 pin for the CPU absolutely must be the CPU from the PSU.  it CANNOT be a PCI-E, uh, plug.  the pci-e ones split off, the cpu ones are direct - they need the power, esp on that board.  make sure its plugged into the cpu part on the psu also, not pci-e

just backtracking, checking details

I'll try the rest, thank you

are you confused as far as what cables need to be plugged in for a motherboard\minimal boot?
24pin for your mobo, big one
top left of the board, all those cpu plugs (have to be cpu on psu, and the same cables, one way no splits)
cpu fan header, must
gpu of course.  if you have an apu it wont matter, plug it into the motherboard (or both if you have dual inputs on your monitor, just to test either)

really u dont need much to give the mobo.  the usb and crap isnt necessary.

hopefully it gets going, i was out this machine for months till i put in the money and effort.  id say it was worth it

Well I've tried both these pins but still it doesn't
