Hello.

I have a  bit weird problem.

MY MSI RTX 4080 Super - Slim Gaming VGA turns off sometimes (Black screen), fans on vga spins up, but i still have sound.

mostly happens not under load, idle on desktop, watching Youtube while no game runs in the back, sometimes, rarely in game too, but that is rare.

i used GPU-Z to create log files, but nothing weird, GPU-core voltage drops to 0V, fan speeds up to 100%, RAM 0V.

GPU idles around 38-42°C, in game around 65-70°C

it would be super if somebody could help in at least how could i diagnose what makes this  problem.

Thank you all!

System:

Asus Rog Crosshair X870E Hero

AMD R7 9800X3D AI overclock + XMP tweaked, water cooler

2x16GB  Gskill DDR5 6000MHz (A2-B2)

2TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 this is under the second PCIE slot, that is not directly connected to the CPU, so the VGA is on x16 mode

2TB Crucial P5 Plus 2 TB PCIe M.2 2280SS SSD -  Boot this one is in the top slot what has no impact on the PCIE lanes

Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360  RGB

ROG Thor 1000W, using the original 600W VGA Cable

LG 3440x1440  Curved OLED monitor with Display Cable

i have an extra TV (4K60Hz LG) with HDMI connected with 5M cable, and a HTC Vive Cosmos adapter, the headset is not connected when i am not using it.

When you say you are using the original 600w VGA Cable.

Is this the one from the PSU or the adapter that comes with the GPU?

PSU has a display and  on full load it never reaches 650W so 1000W should be enough.

i use the one that came with the PSU, no adapter, one cable, 12VHPWR

Yep. 1000w is plenty.. You could put a 5090 in that system and be fine with a 1000w.

Can you try the adapter that came with the GPU and see if that makes a difference?

I see no obvious issues, but you may want to try another PSU (1200W or more) and use the cables that comes with said PSU for your GPU.

Adding more watts is not going to solve a problem that exist with already more than enough watts.

so, i try it like this.  i am hoping 🙂

That looks good 🙂

I used the adapter with my own RTX 4080 for 2 years.

I just want to eliminate the power cable that native to the PSU to start trying to find the issue.
