I’m looking for advice on a GPU upgrade and could use some outside opinions.

Right now I’m running a Ryzen 5 5600 with an RX 6600. I play at 1080p and that’s not changing anytime soon, although I might consider 1440p further down the line. My budget is around 300 €, and I’m trying to decide between an RTX 5060, an RX 9060 XT (either 8 GB or 16 GB), or possibly just keeping my RX 6600 for now.

Most of what I play is fairly light, but from time to time I jump into heavier titles like Hunt: Showdown, Cyberpunk 2077, and Expedition. Outside of gaming, I occasionally use remote streaming to connect to my PC, and I also do some SolidWorks and Blender work — not professionally, but enough that stability and software support matter to me. I may also consider using Linux but probably not main though, at least not in the current state, because programs I use don't support it.

I’m currently leaning toward the RTX 5060 mainly because of NVIDIA’s software ecosystem, especially DLSS, and overall driver and feature support. That said, I do like AMD, and I’m wondering whether the RX 9060 XT — particularly the 16 GB version — would make more sense in the long term, especially if I move to 1440p later on.
Of course, if I were to upgrade I would get exchange for the RX 6600.

Given this kind of usage, which option would you personally pick, and why?

Any of the cards would be a huge update over your 6600. If you can get your hands on a 5060ti(8GB is fine for 8GB), it'll be the best option. Just for the DLLs alone. If the premium is too high, go for the 9060xt 16.

What would you do or get in this situation?

It all depends on your budget and pricing. I'd go for the Ti, but do read the article I linked; they go over different cases.

And what's the performance like?

Unless you're way below 60FPS in those more demanding cases...

... it would seem more reasonable to wait until then in that case. Otherwise you would spend now on over-speccing for 1080p, whereas on average you should get more for your money by the time you actually move to 1440p.
