I got an ashtray made of concrete, I like it, but there are some impurities in the material (air bubbles) and I think painting it with a waterproof paint would "maybe" be a good idea, but I'm not sure... My thoughts are either acrylic paint (but what kind exactly?) or latex (my favorite wall paint)

Any ideas/suggestions?

Or should I just leave it how it is?

Edit: latex would be nice but I'm 99% certain it wouldn't survive the washing machine, so acrylic?

I actually will bet on the concrete ball surviving vs. the washing machine. You can use the spray paint cans, one can of primer (or whatever the concrete version is), and then spray whatever color you like on top. Maybe a mist of silicon epoxy on top to protect the color and make it easier to clean.

Getting the obvious suggestion out the way.

Paint it brown to make it look like a coconut.

I'd say to sand it a bit and use paint for walls, which is going to be the easiest IMO

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

The ball will, I meant the paint... latex ain't super adhesive... sure you can wash it, carefully... but with a surface like this I'm just not sure.

Hmm I'll look into that.

Lol! Good idea honestly but the white just fits to well in my setup... 👀

Yeh, but most paint actually isn't water proof, hence latex (too soft probably) or acrylic... I just thought maybe there's some super exotic new stuff I could use instead...  🤔

Have you thought about using concrete sealant? Seems the obvious choice.

concrete is naturally porous.

Use a concrete sealant, readily available at your local hardware store or amazon. They come in various stains and some are paint friendly.
