Hi guys,

I have recently bought a gaming laptop from ASUS namely the Strix scar 18 with the following specs: 32gbs RAM, 3TB SSD, Intel core 275HX and RTX 5080. And after using it for a while i am noticing it i am not getting the same FPS that usual testers get while playing the games. For example APEX Legends i am getting an fps of 165 while on native 2.5K resolution and many setting low or off with max FOV. But when i see youtube review they suggest an avg FPS of 275-300 and i dont know why i do not get it same goes for battlefield redsec i am getting an avg fps of 144 while i am using DLss and most setting at low/off to draw as much fps as i can. If someone can direct me with any setting that need to be done or Nvidia control panel setting, etc it would be greatly appreciated.

Are those videos on laptops too? A laptop 5080 is nowhere near a desktop 5080.

never fully belive youtube reviews, specially on laptops, the full enviroment where a laptop is tested is the key to have better or worse performances, laptops SUCK at cooling due to the form factor, if you have a really cold room you might get way better FPS the someone who buy the laptop and live at a decent heat.

this being said, if the FPS are way lower then the youtube videos you might need to know about drivers, nvidia is not living the best time lately (at least untill a month ago) drivers are buggy and kills FPS, try an older version of the drivers

So this is not an issue of your personal laptop performance degrading, but just being different from the review videos you had seen? Perhaps the reviewers received cherry picked "top-of-the-bin" laptops with better than spec'd components? There are performance variations that are allowed between each laptop even when on paper they should be identical. It is know as manufacturing tolerance. Not to mention when system builders only tell you 16GB ram @ 3200 MHz. Could be ram from any place with any level of quality control per laptop, for example.

Dreaming of the day when my brain cell doesn't betray me.
