I just learned about Private Maps by MapQuest (yes, that MapQuest) and was wondering if you guys think it would be a good alternative to other privacy-respecting navigation apps like Organic Maps and OsmAnd? It looks, promising, especially since it's owned by the same company that owns StartPage.com.

Private (?)

Good thing you included that question mark.

But when you take a look at:

You tell me what kind of privacy is this:

So, they pinky promise (app description) they won’t sell your data, but then they link to a privacy policy that says:

we may share your Personal Information with...
data analytics providers, social media networks, native advertising networks, programmatic advertising platforms...

They will share it for free? 😄
I mean if they are not selling it, but sharing for free I guess they technically didn't lie in the app description about that. 😄
Also, app description says no tracking, but privacy policy says:
we may use automated data collection or tracking technologies to collect... including: location data...

Anyhow, I won’t be paying for the privilege of either being lied to or using an app whose legal department couldn’t be arsed to come up with a proper privacy policy that’s actually in line with the description.
