Does that same cable give you steady speeds if you plug it into a regular Gigabit port?

10 MB/sec sounds like Fast Ethernet (100 megabit) speeds, which could be a bad cable because 10/100 Ethernet only needs two pairs of wires in the cable to work.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Are you finding that big files get you to 1.5gbps and small files are slower?

First time i tried upgrading to 2.5 GB with a cheap switch, opened it up to see inside, and a small heatsink and a thermal pad to touch the metal casing, and this run is a

small transfers  with many 500mb video files

So what NIC/network card/motherboard are you using on both your pc and the NAS?

think it maybe more cable i redid the ISP coax line so i could have my 2.5gb switch with shorter Cat6 ( i hope cables that came with the router). cables, so two yellow ISP cat cables, one from the router for internet and the second one to my SSDNAS, and a outdoor cat 6 cable to my PC from the 2.5gb swtich box, seems to be more consitent than before writes

just saw your post, thought it was the other person, and so far read speeds from the SSD NAS are at 15mb/s

think i got the issue solved, redid the coax line for the ISP so the box is closer to my NASs and only have two 3-foot cat cables from the isp box to the 2.5gb swtich and a long cat6 cable to my main gaming pc, so far now its constant read and writes at 2.5gb with a Nas reboot eventually i will get a 10gb nic for my HDD Nas since its not much more expensive than a 2.5 gb nic
