I've always been an Xbox person since the PS2 era. I started PC gaming back in 2015 and now mainly play on my PC and my modded 3DS XL. I haven’t owned a current-gen console since the original Xbox One.

Here’s my dilemma: I’m looking to put either an Xbox or a PS5 in my living room. It has to have a disc drive, but I’d consider waiting for a new Steam Machine. I’ve also thought about building a PC for my living room, but I don’t like the Windows experience for a console setup.

I want to be able to kick back on the couch and play 2K or Madden—not something I really enjoy sitting at my desk for. I’ve done it, but I prefer that laid-back, casual experience; my competitive gaming will stay on my PC.

I don’t want to worry about jumping through a hundred hoops just to start playing. I want to grab my controller, turn it on, and play what I want from the couch. Bonus points for family-friendly gaming options.

Well, I use my PC as a PC and XBOX console since all xbox exlusives are on PC now.

I use my wireless xbox controller A LOT while I kick back in my comfy chair.

XBOX in general seem to be in a strange spot right now with all the news and price hikes going on... Not a fan.

 

In terms of gaming experience I would say that a PS5 and XBOX are identical once you fire the game up.

I guess my other issue is the xbox right now is 650 and I can get the ps5 bundle with 2k26 at best buy for 550... Makes my desicion so much harder because I really want to go xbox and I'll have madden with game pass so that is a plus but another 70 dollars for 2k when I could buy the bundle and have madden for 70 bucks and still be cheaper than the xbox. I really like the xbox controller but as a much more causal experience I don't think it makes sense financially or worth it to go xbox slightly torn.... Why Microsoft why.................

That is also true.  XBOX gamepass ultimate edition has gone up to 120 dollars/pounds so thats insane...

I dont know what version will have the games you want.

 

I dont know how quickly you want or need a console, Black Friday and CyberMonday is a month away.. Maybe you can get a proper good deal on either?  Might be worth the wait.

xbox is wired they have games not all games works on pc...and there pass for different stuff. same with ps you want ps2 games there's a pass for it.

pc would be best to play thow games and executives to the consoles i guess. 

 

there might be ways of say adding game librarians to say one app i think steam was trying to do that with there os.

 

you can use price trackers to find deals across all of them but you do need logins and accounts for all of them thow...

 

the consoles spaobly pick a game and it should work but i heard they update all the time...

 

so it all depends on what you want nothing is good just ok.

 

pc there mods some games essay to setup others are complex like minecraft...

 

Nintendo taking forever to add games...and there aaa games are really costly... you could buy them the trade them but even that might not work for switch 2 🤷‍♂️ Nintendo could rug pull too and all your online stuff is gone... like they done in the past. might not happen but no guaranty's...

Id just get the cheapest option which usually is the ps5. Also has some exclusives if you wanna try em. You got a pc so everything from xbox is on there anyway.

 

Im trying bazzite on my lenovo legion atm for couch gaming. Its very nice overall and very close to console like so curious what valve will do for the steam machine.

 

Since its sports games anyway could even go super cheap and get a xbox one/ps4 used for like 150 or less 😛

That's a huge shout I wasn't even thinking about black friday? That time really works out for me Really would like something by the new year honestly with holidays I would like to enjoy my time of couch gaming tbh so I might just wait for then. I currently have pc game pass and would up but I think the games I would actually play it makes sense just to buy them honestly if I can get that bundle for 500 or less and xbox isn't around the same on black friday I'll probably pull the trigger on it on black friday.

Yeah I really would prefer just to get the new console I'm okay around 600 just seems like the PS5 is making the most sense will see what happens on black friday.

Bazzite is something I'm looking at incorporating into a bedroom pc next year or waiting on a steam machine for the end of next year.

Indeed!  The consoles are turning 5 years in November so getting a good Black Friday deal on a ps5 shouldn't be out of the question.

And the games you want might also be on sale during that time so it wouldn't be a bad time to try and get what you want 🙂 

I dont know how much you want to play GTA 6 but having either console will let you play it a lot sooner than on the PC as well.

 

Maybe look at the PS5 Pro on Black Friday if you want a console with some more oomph.

 

I personally own a PS5 and I am very happy with it, I own every Playstation console though...

No they don't make a PS5 Pro with a disc drive unfortunately, but it can actually be bought separate for the PS5 Pro/Slim... But thats another 80 bucks unfortunately.

Personally I think the base PS5 is powerful enough.  I like good graphics and even I thought that Red Dead Redemption 2 looked amazing on the base PS4 back in 2018.

But it was worth mentioning 🙂 Something to think about.

Indeed!  And Microsoft is releasing a lot more games on the PS5 going forwards so that a huge plus if you end up with a Playstation.

We see that Forza Horizon 5 is on PS5 already, Microsoft Flight Sim will come to PS5 and Forza Horizon 6 will be on PS5 later.

Xbox Exclusives like Indiana Jones, Gear Of War and Starfield for example are all heading to PS5 as well.
