Overheat CPU

Go to solution Solved by ToBy_2028,

yer remember overclocking isnt a linear relationship with heat well its close but not perfect my h100i the backplate was loose so it wasnt making contact, with stock clock i was idle in high 30s and 60s with prime.

I will try to remount it, and check the temps again. Thanks

Problems gone. 4.6 ghz OC NP. and XMP enabled - Max 75c. I mounted the cooler wrong... Thanks again

Hello everybody

I just bought new hardware. ASUS Z97 Pro Wi-Fi AC, 4770k, and 16GB 2133 mhz memory.

CPU cooler: Be Quite! Dark Rock Pro 3

If I try to overclock to just to 4.0 ghz or just turn the XMP profile on, my temp increases to 90 degrees. If i reset the bios to default, the max temperature is 65 degrees.

I have the newest bios from ASUS.com

Bad bios, cooler paste or crappy CPU??

Please help me..

check the cooler is making physical contact with the heat spreader, my h100i wasnt making contact and would hit 90c while booting
