12VHPWR running low?

Go to solution Solved by Mumintroll,

The 5070ti max power draw is 300w, but can usually be abit lower than that when gaming.

Overclocked models can draw a little more.

Hey all.

I apologise in advance if this post sounds noob pro max.

I’ve recently built a PC and slowly learning how to read benchmarks etc. I have been testing my GPU with Furmark to see if everything is working ok and I noticed that my 12VHPWR says it is pulling 290w power on 100% GPU usage when the cable is capable of pulling 600W. Is this normal?

Thank you.

But 5070 are not capable of pulling 600w. You need to check the card power limit.

Ah, so since my card is pulling 300W, the 12VHPWR Cable pulling 290W is fine then?

Yes

Common build advice:

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.

The cable itself doesn't "pull" anything, that just means it's rated to carry a load of up to 600 watts. You're well under that limit, so it's fine. 🙂

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
