Our house was built originally in the 1930s. Shit the house existed before electricity hit the area.

You can get ones like that or you can get ones that go in-line in the duct and and are turned on either with the HVAC main blower or via a pressure switch.

I think before any of us would think about inline boosters (realistically literal register boosters wouldn't do jack) we'd look at the ducting first. It's EXTREMELY unbalanced room to room. Hell, our room operates off the main duct and SHOULD be one of the first stops, yet we have the weakest flow out of any room in the house, and I'm pretty sure the utility room is one of the last stops but is one of the strongest flowing rooms.

You might fall into the same unfortunate reality as us where the ductwork is simply not done correctly after a few renos (hell, this house has had several additions done to it, not just busting down walls here and there to change the layout). You guys very well may want to consider getting it looked at by someone juuuust to make sure there's not something done incredibly stupidly.

They have accepted it. So they likely won’t consider anything. I’m sure the ductwork is not up to current standards. The heat works, that is all that matters.

Yeah, I know what that's like, I think her parents are thinking about offing this place and just don't really want to bother. We use one of those pivoting box fans at the base of the stairs and I have a 200mm AC Infinity axial fan sucking out of the loft and for the most part it actually does well and that's good enough for them.

Do you have balancing flaps in the basement or somewhere? I have had to tune mine for even airflow through the house otherwise my bedroom is freezing or burning while the rest of the house is suffering the opposite.

I’m honestly not sure. I only just started living with her parents in June so I’m still nosing about the place lol
