Hi guys.

Could anyone explain me on how to overclock i7 5930K on my Asus Rampage V Extreme board.

A link could be useful as well.

I am total newbie regarding overclocking.

I did some google research and everyones overclock result is different, so I am not sure from where ro start and which programs to use.

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

Thats the nature of overclocking. Like genuinly pick someone's max oc and build towards it slowly!

Old but well has all the info you need a 5930k usually does 4,2-4,4 ghz all core average just have good cooling and GOOD airflow over the board.

I watched that link. This is more for like advanced overclockers and very time consuming.

Is there something easier to try?

That is easy overclocking on x99. Everything linus says is on point for how to eventually get em up to 4.4 or higher.

The easy oc stuff your board has is just dump power and hope the chip handles it. Not a great way to do it.

Overclocking properly is just work. Took me 2 hours to get my 5820k stable at 4,6ghz and it was UNDER stock voltage which is extremely odd but thats just overclocking on x99 its odd 😛

Okay.

But this is for 5820K.

Should I apply same values for 5930k?

I don't understand part fom 7:45. Should I do that as well?

Or just set core ratio and voltage?

You should apply the same logic. The values do tend to line up for a bit. Its all about following the same flow of logic and reasoning but adjusting the values to what works for your chip when you reach unstable clocks.

Also always do a cinebench run! Sometimes higher clock speeds perform WORSE than lower ones as overclocking is wack!

7:45 applies if you have faster ram. Its easier to run at 2133 no xmp to first do ocing and later get xmp back on AND make sure that the cpu 125 step doesnt make the cpu clock way higher due to increase multiplier. So worst case turn it back a bit.

You can also start with xmp on and go from there. Less stable overall but it skips the reverification step when turning xmp on.
