Hi LTT forum, right now I have an HP laptop with an Intel Core i5-10210U, 8GB of RAM at 2666 MT/s, 512GB storage, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Intel UHD Graphics, and running Windows 10. I'm looking a more powerful study laptop because I'm currently studying Computer Systems Technician – Networking and Security my max budget is around 1280 cad or 940 usd but in my local country currency its 6000 dkk

P.S. I want to hear your recommendations, just no Mac

Boring answer: throw some more RAM at the laptop you have. You're not going to be running much more than VM or two locally anyway, and Cisco Packet Tracer can run on a potato.

Btw it's a laptop bought in mid 2021

And is its processor inadequate for your needs?

It's new enough to run Windows 11, and what you're planning on doing isn't going to be very intensive. The equipment you're going to learn is going to be a lot less powerful than that laptop.

Yeah not enough cores and the laptop doesn't hold it's charge anymore plus it's in bad condition like a few pieces of the shell is broken off or half off

That changes the equation (and would've been good information to include in the first post 😉 ).

My go-to recommendation is always a Dell Latitude or Lenovo ThinkPad office laptop. I've never had good experiences with bargain "home" laptops; they're underpowered and usually built out of creaky, flimsy plastic.
