How do I subtract in Excel? Sheet 1 A1 minus Sheet 2 A1:A10. Can I get the formula for that?

You can't substract a vector from a value, do you mean Sheet1 A1 minus sum of Sheet2 A1 to A10 ?

Then formula is Sheet1!A1 - Sum(Sheet2!A1:A10)

You do a Sum and treat one of your values as a negative.

 

So if one number is on A1 on the same sheet as the formula, and the second value is in A1 on the second sheet, your formula would look like this:

 

=SUM(A1, -Sheet2!A1)

 

You can nest additional steps inside more parentheses if you need to total up another run of cells first:

 

=SUM(A1,-Sheet2!A1,(D1:G1))

If any of the previous answers doesn't work and you intend to do something completely different, you'll need to use an array formula.

 

 

You need to make the reference to Sheet1!A1 absolute with the $ signs (hit F4 once) and after selecting the range in Sheet2 you need to hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter to turn it into an array formula, then drag down the results so each row shows the value of each row in Sheet2 subtracted from the value in Sheet1.
