Do you want something that can blow a good volume of air (for dusting), or something that can blow air at high pressure (for inflating tires, pool toys, sports equipment, etc)? Don't say "both", because my answer will be "a real air compressor". 😛

Have you already bought into a power tool battery platform (Milwaukee M18, Dewalt 20v, Ryobi One+, etc)?

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I think something USB charging will be more than adequate.

Not sure he needs Dewalt 40v battery packs for portability 🙂

Recommendations I don't have, they all seem to be approximately the same quality and similar price.
Honestly, I have one, and it's not *terrible*, but they're nowhere near the efficacy of standard canned air in my experience.

Maybe not "need", but why buy something with its own proprietary battery if you already have tool batteries? For example Ryobi has this high volume inflator that would be more than adequate as an electronics duster. (And you haven't lived until you've dusted out a computer with the EGO 768 CFM leaf blower! 🤪)

The USB rechargeable ones are fine too. The ones I've used tend to make a loud, very high pitched whine, but they work okay enough.

Come to think of it, if you aren't looking to use it on the go, a little pancake air compressor is gonna be 1000x more effective and most come with an accessory kit that includes an airgun. I have a 130$ craftsman one that is wonderful, but you can also get some Harbor Fright trash that will work for 60$

I've had the 2 gallon "Fortress" ultra-quiet compressor from Harbor Freight for years. It's more expensive, but a lot nicer than the angry pancake.

TBH I *love* HF. Almost every (non-battery) tool I buy, I buy first at HF with an eye to the cheapest option. Many times I have found them sufficient, even if every time my wife uses the drill to mix the mead must it makes the room reek of ozone.

i've had a datavac pro for probably close to a decade, it's basicly a vaccuum cleaner motor with a handle and a nozzle.

battery powered is all good, but how often will you be using this somewhere you dont have a plug within range, and wouldnt you rather it actually being a powerful stream of air?

They vary widely. I have one at home that is pretty crap, so I just started using my air compressor. But I used to work at a university that had one that charged via USB C and sounded like jet, worked like a jet. Was just as good for dusting as my actual air compressor.

Didn't last for shit though, charged that thing like twice a day during our cleaning periods.

moving air takes power, more power means less battery life.
