i had this (566.36) driver when it started the problem then i update it to 577.
but now yeah fresh windows 11 did solve the problem.
maybe microsoft wanted to force me to upgrade to windows 11 🤣

my GTX 1080 just started dropping VRAM from 5005MHz to 4513MHz, and after some time it goes back to 5005MHz no matter if I play game or not.
it's not about getting hot cause it happens at any temperature.
so when it drops from 5005MHz to 4513Mhz my GPU goes to 100% for like 5 seconds (even on desktop not doing anything) then GPU come down to 0% but VRAM stays at 4513MHz for some time than goes back to 5005MHz.
ingame when it drops the game starts to lag too much and the GPU gets to 100%.
any help please.
i tried updating driver setting power to "prefer maximum performance" restarting

Sounds like some software is briefly using the GPU in the background tbh.

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833 

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

Before that, try changing drivers to something known to be stable like 566.36. 

 

Also "prefer maximum performance" does not help with anything, all it does it not let clocks drop despite lack of load. Does not change behaviour under load.
