How often are you accessing the M.2 SSD slot under the graphics card? Normally you would install the SSD before installing the graphics card and only remove it if replacing the drive, maybe once every few years. I take my graphics card out to clean the dust out of the heatsink more often than I take my SSD out, which I don't think I've touched since installing it.

IMHO I would avoid anything that extends the PCIe slot. I know people like horizontal mounts, but signal integrity and timing are real important factors for system stability. While PCIe does use CRC (error correction), it doesn't always work and leads to hidden errors that causes the GPU to pause and hickup in performance. At times, can even crash the GPU drivers or cause a full blown BSOD (kernel panic) of the Windows OS.

a pcie extension will only really protect the mb witch most cases cost less then the gpu.

it would make accesses to the release button easier and with enough air between the side and the gpu would be needed.
