Actually, the frequency other people do something and it being accepted does matter. LMG is a large company, they’re visible to any government watchdog agency in Canada that wants to review their videos for violations; After several years and numerous videos regarding Framework, if this were actually a legally problematic situation something would have happened.

You are ignoring the fact I pointed out, that enforcement is rarely ever done.  Not only does it require reporting it, but then it also requires the person who gets it on their desk to thoroughly investigate it etc.  It's just like how LMG operated illegally out of their house for how many years before finally going to the warehouse (and yes they technically did get the legal order to leave, but realistically they were in violation for a whole lot longer).

It's also akin to lets say tax evasion, the vast, and I do mean vast majority of tax evasion is never properly investigated.

If “everyone keeps thinking LMG is transparent…” and yet you’re being incredibly contrary? Maybe the problem is your viewpoint or stubbornness; Just food for thought.

Contrary how, I am saying LMG isn't transparent, I literally pointed out a video where they weren't transparent (you have to go through the description to find any notice of it, which is a violation).  Also I also pointed to other example, Toyota's video (absolutely no disclosure done), the backyard fiber video (literally didn't list them as a sponsor and ignored for close to a year iirc my argument that they were effectively advertising a wrong product), and I could keep going but I don't bother watching LTT videos anymore and don't feel like searching through for more examples of LMG not following proper disclosures.

LMG defines "sponsor" different than what is the legal definition as well.  e.g. The Toyota one, Toyota according to them isn't a sponsor despite giving them the car to test while down there, paying for the flight down there, used their slides and talking points, and providing extra stuff while down there...but hey according to LMG they were going to create a hydrogen video with or without Toyota's help.  How convenient that it lined up with their timing that Toyota was paying a bunch of other YouTuber's to create effectively the same YouTube video as them.

My scenario was about an uninvolved employee, which is true if Linus doesn’t sit on camera, write the script, or editorialize the script/video. And absolutely if some employee there owns stock in Apple and someone else is doing a review on one of the numerous LMG channels, that doesn’t have to be mentioned.

Except Linus is the owner, it's frankly an asinine argument trying to pretend that that doesn't make a difference.  Some news orgs here are owned by cable corps here...and guess what despite being "independent" negative news stories pretty much don't make their way through when it comes to their brand.

The fact is, Linus owns LMG, and he owns a stake in a company that his company talks about.  You are fooling yourself if you think that at large, or even small companies, there will be an unwritten rule that you still treat lightly around it.

Your conflict of interest is a complete red-herring and not at all relevant to this discussion. Linus having a maybe 1% investment standing in a company, making public videos about that company where his investment is disclosed, while saying nothing that isn’t public information or OK’d by framework’s PR department, doesn’t create a conflict of interest.

The OP literally speaks about conflict of interest.  It is outright foolish that you think there isn't a conflict of interest.

Linus' endorsement/investment of Framework 100% caused a spike in traffic towards framework and his continued endorsement of it has kept it in the spotlight.  So yes it's a conflict of interest because the success of Framework can also partially hinge on people like LMG keeping it in the public eye.  Just like Noctua, where LMG caused significant spikes whenever they talked about it.

Again that "1% investment" doesn't really matter as much when you consider that a $225k investment could potentially be worth millions if Framework becomes successful.  Even within the year of his investment, my estimate would be that his investment has doubled in value.

Again, he isn't meeting the minimum standards that is written out

According to you, LMG doesn’t seem to have ever done anything legitimately.

I’m not continuing any further in this discussion, you apparently know better than everyone and know the particulars of everything. Source? Because you’ve said so.

As you see it, one of the biggest independent media companies in Canada has avoided everything, because there’s no gumshoe like you working for the Canadian government. Sounds like you have a job opportunity, Detective.
