Hi!

I have bought a new pc recently but it is having some issues first of all the gpu doesnt go anywhere near 90% utilization even if the cpu is only at 70% or around there the games would sttuter horrendously I downloaded cyberpunk it was running at 60 fps at high preset but then i shifted it to ssd from my hdd beacause the game had problems loading model that are slightly distant giving them a poly look the problem was fixes but now the game barely reaches 45 fps at low preset even with frame gen. The same problem occured in Ghost Recon wildlands the cpu was at like 40% but the gpu still kept falling below 60 fps. If anyone can help me fix this problem I will be very thankfull. Also the nvidia app recommends me high to ultra settings too

My specs:

                  RTX 4060

                  i5 9400 2.9 GHz

                  Apple HDD 512 gb

                  Lexar SSD NM620 256 gb

16 GB ram 2666 MHz (single channeled)

Please help me 🙏

Overall CPU usage means nothing. If the game only makes use of a few cores and those cores are 100%, you can still be CPU limited. If the GPU isn't reaching 99% utilization, it's limited by something.

Your second problem is RAM being in single channel. Dual channel doubles memory bandwidth, which can give up to a 30% performance boost. That could hold back the CPU, which in turn holds back the GPU.

This can be quite normal, especially if u limit framerate which sounds like you do.

Run a 3dmark benchmark and *link* the results here.

The 9400 is certainly a bottleneck for the 4060 at 1080p

CPU usage in game is usually way lower than 100% as games can't use all cores (but in your case it's not far from 100%, in mine it's like 15%...)

Thx but is my pc good enough for the  games or could that be the issue that my specs are low

The 4060 is certainly good enough.

But as I said, single channel RAM is an issue. You definitely want dual channel and ideally 32 GB for more modern games. Faster RAM (3200 MT/s) with low latency would be even better (the 2666 MT/s likely has CL20, use CPU-Z to check). The CPU is also rather weak by today's standards, so you'd probably want something faster.

So the question here would be upgrade RAM, or upgrade CPU+RAM. The first option should be much cheaper, but if you later decide to replace the CPU as well, you'd likely end up with a platform the needs DDR5, rather than DDR4.

Im planning to upgrade to an i5 12th gen processor and i guess ill also try to upgrade my ram as it is pretty cheap

Since that requires a different motherboard anyway, I'd rather go for AM4 or AM5. With AM4 you could theoretically keep your existing RAM, though I would really recommend going for dual channel. AM5 should give you more upgrade options, since Zen6 will likely run on that platform as well.
