I bought this 14700K back in November 2023 and it was fine till now.
When I first got the CPU, I had an Asrock z790 Livemixer motherboard and that was fine, I was updating after each bios with no issues then I sold the board a month ago.
Then I got a Asrock b760 steel legend board, was fine for 20 od days until my games performed like utter garbage always stuttering and microstuttering, desktop abd scrolling felt slow and laggy like I was using some 2 core 2 thread CPU, and getting unnecessary high temps, this was on the newest Microcode.
So I downgraded to the 0x125 microcode where it all started, desktop and gaming felt amazing it was like I was playing on my actual CPU, but I am now getting game hangs / crashes in GTA Online Enhanced Edition my main game, this is making the game not playable really annoying.
So it's either get terrible performance but be stable or get good performance but make my main game unplayable.
I have a 4080 Super and play 1440p on mostly CPU demanding games so the CPU is pretty important needing to perform the best.

On the newest bios I tried limiting the voltage to a fixed 1.4 to fix the temp spikes, that did fix them but my game still runs terrible.
On the 0x125 I tried XMP off, then tried all the profiles and still problems.
I can't return the board as I bought from Computer Orbit and they don't do refunds after the 37 days lmao, so I could still return the CPU and sell that for a stable 12th gen CPU but I am not sure if 12th gen has any of these possible issues, and not sure if that board is at fault here.

Yeah as yous say, I can just demand a RMA on the Intel site, they are meant to be shite good from what I have heard, just to sell that as a steeled new CPU, then I can get something like a 12700K would loose a bit of performance but I would rather have a stable CPU.

Or check a swap to ryzen getting better than 12700k gamibg perf is easy tp do for the price of selling a used 14700k

An add on to this...
I tried a bios from the start of 2024 and that still crashes but I found something wierd.
Rdr2 which is Vulkan runs perfectly fine no issues or crashes.
GTA 5 runs fine with 26fps played for an hour no problems, put the game to 65 crashed after 5 mins.
Then I tried cyberpunk and that crashed after 5 minutes.
Tried Studio and Gamer gpus drivers same issue, I don't think it's gpu as it's a PNY 4080 Super runs at like 55c when gaming and is fine with rdr2 which is crazy on the gpu when maxed out.

Following the video, turning down the clocks to 5ghz and disabling E cores actually did not help but putting a hard cap on the voltage 1.4v did fix this and now I am not crashing in games, I should not have to do this, I should just run default and be fine but I guess not lol.
I already bought the 12700K I'll just keep that and still get rid of the 14700K to be safe.
