Budget (including currency): £500

Country: England

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Gaming (GTA, Warzone) & a little photo editing with Lightroom on the side

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I currently have the following:

Ryzen 7 5800x 8 Core

Radeon  5600 xt 6 GB

Asus B550 Gaming Motherboard

4x 16gb DDR4 ram

I wanna upgrade my graphics card however using bottleneck calculator, the only way for me to effectively upgrade my gpu is to upgrade my cpu aswell.

As far as I'm aware, the next best for me is the ryzen 7 5800x3d however they are nearly impossible to find.

What's the best graphics card for me to upgrade too without having to upgrade my CPU (if possible)?

Aiming for a 12gb card minimum and prefer AMD however I'm open to nvidia if there's a better alternative.

Thanks!

bottleneck calculator

this are pretty trash and don't give good results

if you can get the 9060 xt 16gb close to msrp when it releases, sure it will be bottlenecked by your cpu but it won't damage it and you can always save up for a new cpu later or a swap to am5

Bottleneck calculators are usually quite garbage, dont use them.

The 5800x can definitely handle a faster GPU than the 5600 XT.  You could look into a 5700X3D as they are easier to find than a 5800X3D if you want a CPU upgrade.

In my opinion with a budget of £500, spend it all on a GPU.

Those aren't worth the photons it took to display them to you, because which component is the bottlenecks (and by how much) changes depending on the game. Don't take their advice as gospel.

Get the best GPU you can comfortably afford. Your 5700X still has gas in the tank, and a faster GPU now will be able to keep up with your future upgrades for longer.

There's a reason three of us simultaneously told you to ignore those. 😉

Should be fine.

Yes, they are terrible and makes people who don't know much about components worry when they dont have to.

Yes, that will be a decent upgrade and will be fine with your CPU.

  • 1 month later...

So I've bought the RX 9060 XT 16GB and thought fuck it, I wanna upgrade.

My current specs:

AMD RYZEN 7 5800XT

RX 9060 XT 16GB

64GB DDR4

ASUS B550

What im looking at right now:

AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D

RX 9060 XT 16GB - Same GPU

32GB DDR4

GIGABYTE EAGLE X870 WIFI

Ignore the budget above

What's our thoughts and what changes should I make? I'm trying to be relatively affordable but don't plan on upgrading again for a while

Thanks!
