Hello y'all;

I acquired 6 hard drives from some e-waste servers, 3 1 TB and 3 250 GB. They were running in RAID(don't know what type, assume R5 for each set), but the array was scrambled before I got it, for data security reasons, and bc of that, I need to format them before I use them. When I plug them in, they appear in the BIOS. However, in Windows, two of the drives in each set of three don't show up, and the third shows up as two disks. I assume this has something to do with the Raid on the drives, but I don't know how to format them in that case. Windows wants to format them to 3.00 GB, which seems incorrect.

Any advice is appreciated.

In Windows:

Open Disk Management.
Select the drive to format.
Choose file system and volume label.
Confirm the format.
Wait for the process to complete

With Linux

Boot into Linux

Open a terminal (command line) and type :gparted

And do the same.

both methods work on either internal or external drives, including USB flash drives.
