what you mean by hack?

some "hacks" was plying famicom games on a nes with a 60 pin to 72pin adapter. thow some games don't work. but there was a famous adapter the honey bee that seem to have more compatible.

 

nintendo did come out with a console that can play both nes and fc in one but had compatable problems.. nex...

 

the snes you can cut out the game pins in the slot so you can play super famicom games on a snes. (can buy an adapter thow...)

 

n64 also you can cut the pins out the slot to also play japanese games on a non japanese system and vicer vearsa games will be in japanese text thow.

 

gameboy i think well some of them you can put a japanese game in a non japanese system and it will be English or can set it in the console settings.

 

as for "hacking the game" is a gray area because it need a rom. there is ways of buying hardware to put the rom off your game i guess but ya...

 

anyway a hack rom need the original copy of the game and you pach it for things like English  or rom hack witch some one made the game.

 

i guess there was a gameshark too that you could hack the game with code more so then a game genie

 

in japan they had snes carts were you could make a game and put them on there for a short time also had online play for a bit too...

 

other things there was like a floppy drive but i think that was a wat to save you game kinda like a memory card back in the day but posable there were game on them too but dont really no.
