I recently got a new AIO, and after I installed it, I am getting no response from my PC when I press the power button or jump the motherboard pins. I've done all the things I can think of, test power supply, test gpu, triple check connections are plugged in, etc etc etc. I have a small wireless dongle plugged into the rear IO that lights up when it receives power and its lighting up when the power supply is on and plugged in. all this leads me to believe I somehow cracked/broke the CPU when I tightened the cooler down. I'm kind of panicking right now, does anyone have any other suggestions???

Cracking a modern CPU should be virtually impossible, since it sits protected beneath its heat spreader. The CPU die isn't exposed like it used to be 30+ years ago.

More likely issue is that it was slightly out of place and some of the pins (CPU or motherboard) got bent. Remove the cooler and check CPU and socket for damage. Whether pins are on the CPU or the motherboard depends on the particular CPU you're talking about.

it's a ryzen 7 9700x. the pins on the mobo look fine, but the bottom left corner of both the cpu and the socket look a little strange like discolored

Can you post a picture? Hard to guess if that is oxidation, corrosion, spilled liquid or thermal paste otherwise.

Have you double checked that everything else, power cables, RAM etc. are plugged in properly?

update: I fixed it by scrubbing the back of the cpu with rubbing alcohol and a soft bristle toothbrush, it looked like some thermal paste got into the socket and had burnt(?) onto the back of the cpu. works fine now no issues 😅
