Headset Info

I have recently bought a new set of Tritton pro 5.1 surround sound headset and I have notice a loud buzzing noise (sounds like my fans) when I plugged the USB in, I have try alternate slots but it still make the noise (The headset has 1 USB and 4 3.5 jack plugs). My friends have said they can hear it in the Skype calls and it is also being picked up in my recordings through the mic.

 

I can only think that it is electrical interference because the usb ports a right by a cooling fan

 

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I'd bet it's a ground loop in the headset circuits - nothing you can realistically do about it.

Many I ask what that is?

 

I might get a external mic ( blue yeti) , do you think that would solve to mic problem

Are you sure the MIC is screwed all the way in to the headset?

 

Does the problem still occur if you plug the headset directly into the PC via USB and bypass the 5.1 adapter?

A separate mic would certainly "fix the problem" but are you sure you need something as high end as the Yeti?

It was just an example I am most likely going to get a snowball or something like that because I am not sure what mic to get

The mic for the headset is a 3.5 jack and I haven't tried a 5.1 adapter

 

I have alos found out that my PC doesn't have all of the jack sockets could that be a problem

The Snowball iCE is a good cheap USB option, snowflake if you'd like something smaller.

I stand by the modmic if you want something attached to your headset and you can still use it if you upgrade to good headphones later on.
